another illustration for a song that's fallen away, not seeming good enough for the subject. but the idea of my mom as a guardian walking through a city, accompanied by a lion, is a recurring one for me, so I like to draw it. not always in a city, of course, but in the case of this song, one of my kids was on a field trip in baltimore, and I thought of her being there, watching over. if you are missing a parent maybe you will recognize this feeling that they are at once far away and quite nearby. my mom was a hospice nurse, and a beautiful person in all ways.
playing the happy mondays today, because it's saturday (?)
happy first day of fall ( or happy spring, if you are in the southern hemisphere)!wherever you are I hope you are well
made this because of writing a song about a girl who imagines a best friend who is a giraffe. for a sort of children's album that I work on sometimes.
Each individual person has been created to love and to be loved- Hindu, Muslim, Jew, Christian - doesn't matter race, doesn't matter religion. Every single man, woman, child is the child of God, created in the image of God.
-St. Teresa of Kolkata
two restorative and calming things today- reading Mother Teresa and working on these (very) primitive block printed flowers.
For those who have asked, a poster now in the shop.
Happy to find my copy of The Red Balloon book today. I was so taken with this film when it was shown in my grade school, maybe in second grade?, and always remember the feeling of seeing it then. I've had a question or two about the title Pascal's Evening Song, from Violet. It's this Pascal, from the film, maybe after he rides with the balloons all over Paris and they are bringing him home.
Hi Everyone. Almost finished recording, so just making sketches for a possible cover. Hope you are well.
